As we all adjust to the new 'normal', here are our latest efforts to help our community remain properly caffeinated ;) Now, more than we ever thought possible, we appreciate your support, positivity, and patience as we navigate the current situation.

Dear Rook Family,

We are experiencing something that is more serious and uncertain than we've ever seen before. While Rook continues to fall under the category of takeout food businesses that can still remain open at this time, we made the very difficult decision to close all of our stores, effective immediately, to ride this thing out. We had put extreme safety precautions into play, limiting hours, limiting customers, limiting ordering, eliminating contact, leaving doors open, and asking customers to only come for a cup if they were in the essential-working-community (healthcare, first responders, foodservice, transportation, etc.), but it still wasn't enough. We love our team and our customers too much to put them at any risk at all. 

This decision changes lives. It's one of the hardest ones we've ever made, but we know it's right. It's about human beings. It's about preserving and saving our community. 

If you're out there listening, if you're out there confused, if you're out there sad, if you're out there angry, if you're out there with any hope at all, we are right here beside you (six feet apart, of course), and we will be on the other side of this thing together.

Rook Fam,

Due to the ever-changing situation in the communities we serve, we will be adjusting a number of things at our retail locations for the foreseeable future. We are working tirelessly to navigate our new world on a day-to-day basis, and our priority continues to remain the same - to promote the safety and well being of our team members, customers, and communities while continuing to support those who rely on us to keep them moving throughout their day. While aspects of your Rook experience will change, we promise to continue to provide the Rook products and customer service you love...just mostly at home.

The following retail store changes will take place as of WEDNESDAY, 3/18:

  • Our original Oakhurst location, “Little Oak” will be closed until further notice
  • All remaining stores will see adjusted business hours of 7 am-3 pm
  • All transactions must be text-only with a 15-20 min. wait time. Click here for text-to-order numbers.
  • All payments must be card or cashless 
  • Baked goods will not be offered 
  • Restrooms will not be available to the public
  • To minimize contact and maintain 6 feet of social distancing, stores will limit customers to no more than 4 at a time
  • Entry doors will remain propped open as much as possible (weather-depending)
  • We urge all customers without essential needs to avoid coming out in public and shop our coffees and cold brews online at www.rookcoffee.com

A note to our Rook Fam:

As members of the communities in which we serve, we understand and take seriously our responsibility to foster the safety and well-being of our staff and customers. To that end, there are many things we are currently doing and will continue to do to protect our community from the spread of COVID-19. As the dynamics of this situation change daily, please know that we will continue to make decisions that will promote the safety of you, our Rook fam.

Outlined below are specific protective measures we have taken based on guidance from the CDC, the NJ Department of Health and practices instituted by influential companies in our industry:

  • We have installed hand sanitizer stations in all Rook locations for customer and team member use.
  • We have reinforced and enhanced cleaning and sanitization standards in all of our locations, including increased frequency and diligence of personal hygiene and surface sanitization.
  • We have provided nitrile gloves to any team member handling customer transactions.
  • We continue to encourage all team members to take advantage of the sick-leave benefits we offer to ensure a healthy environment for all.
  • We have temporarily discontinued the self-serve option at our sugar bars.
  • We have temporarily discontinued the use of reusable cups but will continue to honor our 10¢ discount for customers who bring in Rook-branded drinkware.
  • We are encouraging customers to utilize our text-to-order service and contactless forms of payment to minimize personal contact.

  • As we continue to prioritize the health and well-being of our team, customers, and communities, we would like to thank the healthcare workers, government officials and those who have made changes to their daily habits to actively help to address and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
