More about the bean: Founded by a coffee production expert of thirty years, and his sons, this family business created an export company as more opportunities in Ethiopia came to fruition through changes in the country’s export laws. The family now works directly with two washing stations and sources coffee from 410 small-plot farmers, so that cherries can be carefully hand picked. These cherries go through the normal washed process of depulping, fermenting, washing, and resorting. Through connection to the community, the family prioritizes working with local cherry collection sites and finds ways to grow and build the community through investments in local infrastructure and developmental projects.
